Seminario: "Early Usability Evaluation in Web Application Development"
Usability is considered to be one of the most important quality factors for Web applications, along with others such as reliability and security. Usability evaluations should start early in the Web development process and occur repeatedly throughout all stages to ensure the quality of the Web application, not just when the product is completed. In this talk, I will present a Web Usability Evaluation Process (WUEP) for integrating usability evaluations at different stages of model-driven Web development processes. In this approach, usability problems are corrected at the model and model-transformation levels, thereby improving the usability of the final Web application.

The workshop will be held by dr. Silvia Abrahão, Department of Information Systems and Computation of the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain.
Silvia Abrahão is Associate Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), where she teaches Requirements Engineering, Quality of Web Applications and Advanced Software Engineering. She received a PhD in Computer Science from this same university in 2004. She has served as member of the management committee of two European COST actions: “Towards the Maturity of IT Usability Evaluation” and “Towards the Integration of Transectorial IT Design and Evaluation”. She has been awarded with several grants to support her research work; particularly, she has been a visiting researcher at the Software Engineering Institute at the Carnegie Mellon University (USA), the Belgian Laboratory of Computer-Human Interaction and the Guent University (Belgium). Currently, she is the Spanish editor for the ERCIM News magazine and serves regularly in the program committee of several international conferences and workshops. Her research interests include quality assurance in software product lines, model-driven development, integration of usability in software development processes, Web quality, and empirical software engineering.
